The 2018 California Cyber Innovation Challenge

Featuring a digital forensics exercise allowing students real life, hands on, learn by doing experience. Working collaboratively as a digital forensics investigative team, the students must collect and analyze a combination of digital and physical evidence to stop a cyber plot and use state-of-the-art forensics tools to extract and collect digital evidence. Using a combination of technical, analytical and persuasive skills, each team must then “prove their case” to a panel of expert judges.

The 2018 California Cyber Innovation Challenge Workforce Development Summit

On Friday, June 22, 2018, the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz), in partnership with Cal Poly University San Luis Obispo will be hosting the first California Cyber Innovation Challenge Workforce Development Summit. The Summit will be a half-day convening occurring from 2:00PM to 4:00PM on Friday, June 22 with an evening reception immediately following. The audience for the Summit will be workforce development experts, policy makers, industry representatives and members of the academic community with a vested interest in addressing the skills gap in cybersecurity. Law Enforcement Technology Enhancement Day

The Law Enforcement Technology Enhancement Day allowed attendees to experience the CCI’s live, immersive training environment that is changing the way law enforcement is trained throughout the state. Attendees were engaged in seminars and trainings designed to properly equip law enforcement professionals against cyber attacks.

 

Women In Cyber Panel

On May 9th, we held an interactive panel featuring female leaders in technology from industry, government, law enforcement, and higher education at the Advanced Technology Lab on Cal Poly campus. Topics in the panel included "The State of Security in Government, Industry and Education", "Hackers and the Human Factor" and much more.

Being Secure in a Cyber World

About 75 members of the Girl Scouts of California’s Central Coast (GSCCC) participated in hands-on education about internet safety and protecting their identities online. The GSCCC learned about “cyber age” as it relates to smartphones, computers and the web, including internet safety and protecting private information. The event was an introduction to cybersecurity careers and the skills needed to navigate an increasingly tech-driven world.

The 2017 California Cyber Innovation Challenge

June 24 & 25 2017


More than 100 student competitors completed timed cybersecurity challenges designed to replicate the many different threats that cybersecurity professionals face, from attacks on critical infrastructure to attempted breaches of consumer data on connected devices.

Student competitors acknowledged that cybersecurity will play a key role in their prospective careers, from medicine to aerospace engineering to public service. Competitors look ahead to the 2018 CCIC with a new understanding of the wide variety of careers that require cybersecurity knowledge.
