Cal Poly's CCI Speaks at City of Fresno Cybersecurity Summit

Cal Poly’s California Cybersecurity Institute (CCI) presented on cybersecurity training and research for law enforcement at the City of Fresno Cybersecurity Summit. This event was hosted by The Fresno Police Department and Bitwise Industries.

“Our digital lives are now in danger every single day,” said U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen.

Everyone is at risk due to cybercriminals who want to steal our data and our fortunes. In the last two years, citizens and businesses in the Fresno area have lost millions of dollars to hackers and scammers. The Fresno Police Department investigated many cases where agriculture, healthcare, construction, schools, banking and the elderly have all lost money and personal information.

At the City of Fresno Cybersecurity Summit, the CCI joined law enforcement, business, agriculture, healthcare, government, and cybersecurity experts to help defend against these imminent cyberattacks.

“There is truly no modern crime taking place that does not involve a cyber component. The CCI was honored to participate in this event hosted by the Fresno Law Enforcement Community,” said CCI Director of Industry Outreach, Jimmy Baker.

The CCI is a robust, multi-agency effort to protect California from future cyber threats through training and research for government, academia, military, law enforcement, first responders and private entities. The CCI’s digital range differentiates its training program from others by creating immersive, scenario-based exercises on issues including next-generation cloud computing, anti-human trafficking, healthcare, critical infrastructure, and vehicular vulnerabilities.

The CCI applies a unique Learn by Doing approach to its diverse range of upcoming courses for law enforcement, military, first responders, government, private entities and academia. Learn more about the CCI and register for upcoming courses at cci.calpoly.edu.
