SGC HISTORY

The Space Grand Challenge is a competition open to middle and high school students from across the country! Built off of the prior California Cyber Innovation Challenge (CCIC), today’s challenge is built by Cal Poly students.

Both the SGC, and its predecessor, CCIC, proudly work within the educational framework laid out by the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE). To learn more, click here.

CCIC HISTORY

Each year, Cal Poly students, from both technical and creative disciplines, develop a new cybercrime scenario for the California Cyber Innovation Challenge (CCIC). The scenarios engage youth in modern technical problem sets and prepare them for future education and career pathways in cyber. 

CCIC 2021

The 5th annual California Cyber Innovation Challenge was held online and broadcast live on Twitch. Teams completed in a satellite constellation hacking challenge by searching through 3D evidence sites online and analyzing digital evidence.

The 4th annual CCIC took place online for the first time in 2020. Over 400 students completed in Space-themed satellite hacking challenge.

As attacks on global healthcare continued to rise, the CCIC 2019 scenario was designed based on biohacking crime involving implanted medical devices.
